Barrington Mother’s Day Run/Walk- May 2022
By: Krista Volk, All Community Events Ambassador
What a beautiful day for a race! It was roughly 55 degrees by 8am and the sun was shining! Barrington had an awesome turnout. Patrons of every age showed up ready to conquer the 3.1 mile course. There was a kids dash that many were very excited about as they toed the line at 7:45am. Many teens, adults, and kids in strollers ready to destroy this tough, hilly 5k!
The crowd is ready to start!
The 5k began at 8am. Almost 1,100 people walked up to the start line to begin! This race was accommodating to runners, walkers, and strollers. This is a very family friendly race, which is a wonderful way to begin Mother’s Day together. The course is nice, as you run through neighborhoods, and people cheer you on a majority of the way. The course is also challenging, which makes it more fun!
Each finisher received a rose, and a delicious cake pop, along with water to hydrate! The top 3 finishers in every category (gender/age group) received a medal. This event was a huge success. Families gathered and were taking pictures with the beautiful Mother’s Day background and their rose. Music was playing and a good time was had by all!
