Prairie State Half Marathon, 10K & 3.5 Mile
On Saturday, October 6th, All Community Events hosted their annual Prairie State Half Marathon, 10K and 3.5 Mile race. Despite the early rain, the clouds broke for runners who began running under clear, cool skies. There is nothing like fall running!
All distances began together and wove through the residential and commercial areas of the Village of Long Grove. There were clear splits for the shorter distances while the half marathon runners kept cruising through the scenic streets of Long Grove.
With only small inclines and a slight headwind, the course was a great chance for runners to attempt PR’s. As with all All Community Events races, there were excellent pacers who provided course support and kept runners on point.
There were ample aid stations staffed by various volunteer groups. The main charity partner for this race was WINGS, an organization providing support for adults and children escaping domestic violence situations. Also onsite was the Lake County Sheriff’s Reserve Deputy Unit, who were collecting non-perishable food items from runners.
The energy was high and runners were cheerful as they crossed the finish line in the heart of the downtown area. All racers received a long sleeved, soft blended shirt, great for cooler weather running.
Congratulations to all overall winners.
